Astor–famed fur trader, N.Y. real estate magnate; patron of the arts and, at the time of his death the richest man in the U.S.–advises that he forgot to endorse “a draft of Henry Remsen…of the Manhattan Company, on you for 16,600 dollars, in my favr.” paid over to James Hallowell of Albany, and assents to its having been endorsed for him by David Hardenbrook.
Endorsement on verso. Chipping at edges, one split (reinforced) at fold; else good.
