Kurz & Allison. Battle of Wilson’s Creek Print
BATTLE OF WILSON’S CREEK: Aug. 10th, 1861. Chicago: Kurz & Allison, Art Publishers, 1893. Approx. 24 x 30.5 inches matted.
This colorful Kurz & Allison print illustrates the crisis of the 1861 Battle of Wilson’s Creek, Missouri, as Union General Nathanial Lyon falls leading the charge of the 1st Iowa Infantry regiment; clearly identified by their colors at the left of the illustration.
Like other Kurz and Allison prints, historical accuracy bows to symbolism, although it is true that Lyon died near the 1st Iowa.
Usual toning for its age; light chipping at extremities with minor loss (covered by matting); else very good.
