Robert E. Lee Printed Document Signed; grade report for Washington College. After R. E. Lee’s death in 1870, the name of the university was changed to Washington and Lee University to honor the Confederate Leader.

A beautiful, careful signature as president is placed on a grade report for Edwin T. Dumble (1852-1927).  Classes for Latin, Greek, and Math are graded.

Dumble became the State geographer of Texas for many years, later awarded an honorary Doctorate from Washington and Lee.

Overall clean and fresh; fold marks.
