Abraham Lincoln was the first president to use printed stationery; these Executive Mansion cards started with Ulysses Grant. Grant rarely used them; so cards signed by Grant are very scarce with only one surfacing in the past decade. Grant’s successor, Rutherford B. Hayes is the first president to use them extensively.
The card is embossed, and includes the words “The White House / Washington.”
Roosevelt, Theodore. Autograph Card, signed “Theodore Roosevelt” in a large, bold hand. 4-1/8 x 2-5/8 in.
