Samuel Wylie Crawford, The Genesis of the Civil War, Signed
Exceeding Rare in Limited Edition, Signed, Too!
Samuel Wylie Crawford’s The Genesis of the Civil War, in limited edition, signed and inscribed to a British think tank who’s origins go back to the Duke of Wellington.
Crawford, the post surgeon under Major Robert Anderson at Fort Sumter, and later a major general in the Army of the Potomac, left a detailed eyewitness account and thorough study of the secession crisis, siege, and attack as seen from within the walls of Sumter.
The first trade edition of Genesis… is also scarce and valuable, and is one of the keystones to acquiring the Charles Webster Shoulder Strap set.
This limited edition is, of course, even more unusual, and this copy is inscribed by Crawford to the library of the Royal United Service Association in London.
Minimal sunning, which is usual for red cloth books; very light bump; else very good.
