Stephen Decatur writes and signs a letter clarifying a candidate for a cashiership.

In full:

Understanding that “the directors of the…Bank have been informed that Mr. Wheeler does not wish for the situation which I have solicited for him, to wit, the cashiership of the branch to be established at…Washington”, Decatur assures Jones that Wheeler is in fact still a candidate for this office….”

Minor marg. dampstain, dust soiling, clean partial fold seps.; panel containing sig. lightly toned, w/some moderate showthrough beneath sig.
