Product Description

George Washington signs a Printed Discharge paper.

As “General and Commander in Chief”, Washington certifies that “John Jackson in the Second Connt. Regiment, having faithfully served the United States   from October 1776 to June 1783 and being “inlisted” for the war only, is hereby discharged from the American Army.”   In addition he is honored with the “Badge of Merit.”

Countersigned by J. Trumbull Jr.

Usual overall lt. browning; fold lines, 1 sm. intersect hole; one 3” stain at the bottom, the same at the top, and a smaller one directly in the middle, partially touching the bottom of the “G” of Washington’s signature, which is otherwise quite clear. Accompanied by a contemporary French engraving of Washington in uniform, drawn by “Couder” and engraved by “Blanchard.”
