Wilson, Woodrow. Original Pencil Drawing by G. Mellino, signed by both Wilson and the artist. “A drawing by Gastano Mellino after a copyright photograph by Bach, N.Y.”, written on the drawing. 12-1/8 by 16-3/16 inches (sight); handsomely framed to 19-1/3 x 23-1/2 inches.
Gastano Mellino, a well-respected 20th Century portrait artist, moved to New York City after living in Italy since his birth. There, he was professor at the Belle Arte Di Napoli School in Naples, Italy. He is most known for his portraits of Enrico Caruso and Nobel Prize winner, Nicholas Murray Butler.
A side, bust portrait drawn by an artist who knew his craft. Both pleasing and detailed; and a most unusual presidential historical artifact. Wilson’s pencil signature is large and bold. Excellent.
