Description

Told in his own words, the journal covers Aaron Burr’s years in European exile, 1808-12, during which Burr attempted to sell Great Britain on his plan to revolutionize Mexico and to enlist Napoleon in freeing the Spanish colonies and Louisiana. 

William Bixby owned Burr’s original manuscript and decided to print it (for presentation purposes only) because the original 1838 edited publication was distorted by errors, interpretations, and omissions as to be practically original in its own right. 

Very good, clean throughout and tight; labels sunned; some soiling of boards.

As well, a lengthy, full-page notation by Field describes the contents and its sale history at auction.
