This bust of Abraham Lincoln was created by John Rogers.
Rogers is known for his sculptures of groupings of people, commonly called “Rogers Groups.” These plaster statue groups made by John Rogers from 1859 until 1893 were so appealing in late Victorian America that scarcely a family of reasonable means and taste did not possess one.
A work dedicated to a single subject, like this one, is seldom seen.
