Abraham Lincoln, Daniel Chester French Bust, Modern Reproduction
Inspiration for Your Office
This is a reproduction of the original scale model Daniel Chester French created for Abraham Lincoln’s head for the Lincoln Memorial.
Margaret French Cresson, the artist’s daughter, tells us that French felt that “…his Lincoln statue should have the calm of the best Greeks and still retain the intense personality of the subject…” We think he achieved his goal admirably!
It is cast in Alvastone-a composite material of gypsum, marble, and other particles combined with a bonding agent. It was a trademarked process, owned by Alva Museum Replicas, Inc., of New York, a subsidiary of New York Graphic Society Ltd. It is one of the finest reproductions available.
