Description
The gem tintype features a portion of a Currier & Ives Death of Lincoln print, dating from 1865. This would be the 2nd State of the print, as it includes Vice President, Andrew Johnson. The inclusion of Johnson symbolizes national continuity on the face of a crisis.Â
Mounted to a carte de visite backing, with brass (?) crimped framing on both the tintype and the mount.
Very good; some emulsion disturbance.
