The Illinois Politician

Description

Polycarpus Von Schneidau Chicago October 1854 O-6

This Abraham Lincoln photograph was originally a daguerrotype. This portrait recalls Lincoln’s witticism about his hair. He would say his hair “had a way of getting up as far as possible in the world.” A strange foretelling of Lincoln’s life if there ever was one.

Notice the tie, Lincoln’s hair and fingernails. Also, the Press and Tribune masthead has been stripped in, over another paper’s.

8 x 10, matte finish, our Lincoln photographs are created from a period negative or print.
