Description

A Pass to view Lincoln’s remains as they lied in state at the U.S. Capitol. Lincoln was only the second person–and the first president–to receive this honor. These passes were issued to dignitaries, members of Congress, and leading figures of the day. The passes for the Green Room being the scarcest.

The remains of the President lay in the Green Room in a metallic coffin that rested upon a canopied catafalque.  Bishop Simpson of the Methodist Episcopal Church led the prayer, with the crowd joining him at the end in the Lord’s Prayer.

Pin holes in corners from prior mounting; else very good.

(Mourning Lincoln) Green Room Pass to view Lincoln’s body.  “Admit the Bearer to the Executive Mansion, on Wednesday, the 19th of April, 1865.  Mourning border.  5-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ on stiff board.
