Abraham Lincoln & Tad Lincoln, Sketch from Review of Reviews
Original Art from The Review of Reviews
This charming sketch of Abraham and Tad Lincoln is made after Anthony Berger’s photograph [O-93] at Mathew Brady’s Washington gallery; 9 February 1864.
Though drawn by an unknown staff artist at the Review of Reviews publishing house it was produced by a master at his craft. Detailed and bold, the artist has produced a warm and tender moment between father and son who, between photographs, were flipping through Brady’s photograph sample book that had been lying on a table next to them.
Excellent; fresh and clean as the day it was drawn; pin holes at the corners; ink stain barely touching the sketch.
(Abraham Lincoln & Tad Lincoln) Sketch. Tad and his Father. Original pen and ink sketch, 5” x 6-1/2”. (New York: The Review of Reviews Co., n.d.; from whose files this sketch came.) $575.00
