Description
Park Historian Henry Boynton and his team created Atlas of Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and Vicinity, a magnificent collection of battle maps, to illustrate the new National Military Park for Congress. Boynton and park engineer Edward E. Betts produced thirteen 41″ x 26 ?” plates illustrating the theater of operations and movements in the battle plus a fourteenth plate showing the Chickamauga National Military Park. The maps are interpreted by two plates of text, plus a full order of battle for both armies. The lithographs were printed by Julius Bien & Co., of New York. Expertly rebound in gray cloth and brown spine and corners with original leather title label (7″ x 4 ” approximate). Deaccessioned from Morrisson-Reeves Library of Richmond, Indiana with their label pasted in.
Plates toned; light chipping at corners with minor loss (some damage reinforced with rice paper; light dampstaining; else very good with bright maps.
