Offering an Ammonite Fossil, these were cephalopods, the ancestors of today’s nautilus and other mollusks. C

alled Asteroceras Obtusum-Obtuse Star Ammonite-this long-extinct cephalopod belongs to the Ammonite subclass, within the family of Arietitidae. The animal moved under its own power, and was fast at pursuing prey. They did not drift in the sea or float in wind like plankton; rather they migrated with food supplies. They would have lived in the ocean during the Jurassic era, around 200 million years ago.
