Description

George Barton’s Angels of the Battlefield: A History of the Labors of the Catholic Sisterhoods in the Late Civil War presents a compact and comprehensive history of the Catholic Sisterhood during the American Civil War.

Before its original publication, nothing had yet been published concerning the self-sacrificing labors of Roman Catholic nuns. This biography describes the labors of the Sisters helping soldiers from North and South, without prejudice.

Most of the stories contained in this volume were gathered from personal interviews, archival records, and government personnel.

Bright gilt with only minor rubbing on front, sunning on back board. Else V.G.

George Barton, Angels of the Battlefield. Philadelphia: (1897), 1st ed.; 302p., illus, appendix.
