Description
This Biographical Sketch of General H. F. Devol gives a brief and colorful life of a volunteer of the 36th Ohio regiment who earned a brevet star in the Civil War.
H. F. Devol was a self-made man and a citizen soldier of southeast Ohio. His short memoir is as interesting for his recollections of flat boating the Mississippi River as for his service in the 36th Ohio at Chickamauga and under Crook and Hayes in the Shenandoah Valley.
A small but scarce resource.
Usual toning; ink stamp on end page; else very good and uncommonly bright!
