The Kunhardt’s Lincoln: An Illustrated Biography is a brilliant pictorial biography from the first family of Lincolniana!

A tight, attractive copy of this large, well-illustrated study, with a superb autograph addition: Tipped to the half title page is a fine 3″ x 5″ bookplate made specifically for this title bearing bold signatures of all three co-authors in blue ballpoint, one above the other.

Philip Kunhardt, Jr. (1928-2006) was the grandson of Frederick Hill Meserve (1865-1962), the pioneering historian of photography and “America’s first great photograph collector,” who assigned “Meserve numbers” to Lincoln photographs sometimes still used today;

Kunhardt eventually inherited his grandfather’s unparalleled collection of rare Lincoln glass plate negatives and created a family-run filmmaking business, and published a number of books utilizing them.

Foreword by David Herbert Donald. In burgundy cloth; with pictorial dust jacket. Extensive illustrations (some color), pictorial endpapers.

Lightly bumped; very light edge wear; else very good.
