Abraham Lincoln Signature on letter.

In full: “Dear Sir – Herewith I send you my autograph which Miss Tyler requests for you. Yours Truly.”

The body of the note is written in the hand of Lincoln’s secretary, John Nicolay. Lincoln was continually asked for his autograph – it being a time of great interest in collecting the signatures of the famous. Herein Lincoln gave a classical rendering of his three-tier signature.

Excellent; a fold line across the signature does not detract.

Lincoln, Abraham. Manuscript Note, signed “A Lincoln” as Republican Presidential Nominee. Springfield, IL:   4 December 1860. To “Frank Tyler Esq.”   5-1/4 x 7-9/16 inches.

Daniel Weinberg, president of Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, talks about this document in our Featured Lincoln Signatures video. Take a Look.
