Mathew Brady’s Great Americans Modern Prints from Original Glass Negatives, made by direct contact with the original Brady collodion glass plate negatives.
Housed in clamshell box, includes a booklet, written by Philip B. Kunhardt, Jr., describing Brady’s process and the collection.
The photographs are mounted on the outside of a heavy, folded cardstock, embossed with Meserve Collection stamp, stating that it is printed from the original glass negative, and hand numbered (this set is). A facsimile of the sitter’s autograph is printed below the photo.
Inside, is a printed explanation of the photo, giving the date and location of the sitting, when available. Each is protected by a tissue sheet.
The sitters are Abraham Lincoln, Mary Lincoln, William Sherman, David Farragut, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Edwin Booth, Henry Ward Beecher, Samuel Morse and P.T. Barnum.
Included is the often missing 8 x 10 print of Abraham Lincoln.
The whole is in excellent, unused condition.
