Description

Millard Fillmore signs his copy of the report of the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society.

Fillmore is known for having established the White House Library; undoubtedly, this was among them. His more than 5,000 personal books were eventually sold at auction after his death.

Fillmore was a bit over the top on the slavery issue, but vitally interested as it dominated domestic politics during his time.

Pamphlet has some light chipping at the extremities, and along the spine; top two inches of spine starting to separate; light soiling; old library label on front wrapper. Signed “52 / Hon. Millard Fillmore / Pres’t U.S. 26”.

Millard Fillmore. THIRTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT, PRESENTED TO THE PENNSYLVANIA ANTI-SLAVERY SOCIETY, BY ITS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, OCTOBER 15, 1850, WITH THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL MEETING. Philadelphia: Anti-Slavery Office, 1850. 56p., wrappers.
