Sherman Captures Savannah
The New York Herald reports on 26 December 1864, Sherman’s in Savannah, just in time for Christmas, 1864.
The article contains information on captured prisoners, on the cotton and armaments confiscated, and the destruction of the navy yard the monitors within.
Much other war news, including Canada wondering if war with the United States was imminent and a rumor that Fort Fisher has fallen in Wilmington. The paper presents the full letter of Sherman to Lincoln, presenting him with this “Christmas Gift.”
Some wear, but in very good condition.
