The Lincoln Institute

The Lincoln Forum is an assembly of people who share a deep interest in the life and times of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War era. The Lincoln Forum supports all Civil War and Lincoln groups that similarly strive to help succeeding generations learn and benefit from the study of Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln Library & Museum
Exhibited are many rare items – the cane Lincoln carried that fateful night at Ford’s Theatre, two life masks, the tea set he and Mary Todd used in their home in Springfield, and numerous other artifacts. Approximately 30,000 books, manuscripts, pamphlets, photographs, paintings and sculptures tell the story of President Lincoln and the Civil War period in America’s history. The museum in located in Harrogate, TN.
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library is the premier repository for materials relating to the life of Abraham Lincoln and the history of the Prairie State. The Library is a public, non-circulating research facility that contains material on all aspects of Illinois’ history. Particularly noteworthy are the Library’s holdings in published resources, manuscripts, newspapers, audiovisual, and Lincolniana. It is located in Springfield, IL.
The Lincoln Memorial Shrine
The Lincoln Memorial Shrine is the only museum and archives dedicated to the study of Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War west of the Mississippi River. Its extensive collection of manuscripts, diaries, images and artifacts is maintained by the Special Collections Division of Smiley Library. It is located in Redlands, CA.
Chicago History Museum
The Chicago History Museum cares for, showcases, and interprets millions of authentic pieces of Chicago and U.S. history. Among their Lincoln holdings is the bed on which Lincoln died.

Robert Todd Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood, became Chairman of the largest corporation in America at the turn of the 20th century. He built his Georgian Revival mansion in the scenic Vermont village of Manchester in 1905 and it became home to only Lincoln descendants until 1975.
Lincoln Heritage Museum
Located on the campus of Lincoln College, this is the only college named for Lincoln in his lifetime. In Lincoln, IL. the Lincoln Heritage Museum exhibits a rare and valuable collection of artifacts that tell the story of the life and times of Abraham Lincoln.
Pasfield House Inn
George Pasfield became acquainted with Abraham Lincoln in 1831, soon after Lincoln arrived in New Salem. Located in Springfield, IL, Pasfield House is elegantly restored and is used for business meetings, gala receptions and private get-togethers.

Surratt House Museum
The Surratt House Museum houses many artifacts from the Lincoln Assassination, they also sponsor tours that trace the escape route taken by John Wilkes Booth. It is located in Clinton, MD.
