The President, As Naturalist

Description

President Theodore Roosevelt was also a world-renowned hunter, conservationist, soldier, and scholar. With African Game Trails he recounts his adventures throughout East Africa, Belgian Congo, Mombassa, Khartoum, and more.

In 1908 TR (as we affectionately refer to him here at the shop)  took a long safari holiday in East Africa with his son Kermit (to whom the book is dedicated). His account of this adventure is an exciting read today as it was when he wrote the book. TR describes the excitement of the chase, the people he met, and the flora and fauna he collected in the name of science. Not only a classic example of Africana, it is a great story from one of America’s greatest adventurers and presidents.

This is the 1910 Scribner’s Edition.

Very good+, spine is sunned, overall some scratching, soiling and spotting, a tiny tear and minor fraying and sticker remnant at tailband, minor scuffing to interior front board, pen mark inside back board. Otherwise a fine and beautiful copy of a tough-to-find book.
