This photo, identified with a handwritten caption on the mount, as “Chattanooga, Barracks & Depot…” allegedly shows Joseph Knap’s Independent Battery E Pennsylvania Light Artillery inside an earthwork at Chattanooga.

Miller’s Photographic History of the Civil War notes this photo shows the battery within a strong fortification, covered by slashing – seen in the left background. 

Edgewear, with some minor foxing and toning; image is very nice.
