Abraham Lincoln signs a commission for Aaron A. Meredith as “Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers with the rank of Captain.” WITH another commission for the same soldier, stamped signed by Andrew Johnson, as President, comissioning Meredith as “Major by Brevet” on 20 June 1866.
Both Excellent! As new as the day drafted! Usual but deep folds. Lincoln’s signature is large and careful and above the fold; Stanton’s quite large and bold.
(Housed in protective sleeve, much nicer in person)
