Edward Meany’s Washington From Life, was issued for the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth.

Meany’s work is a fine catalog of various works of art made of the first president “from life,” including Houdon’s face mask and bust, Gilbert Stuart’s unfinished portrait and others. Eight of the plates illustrate Washington as represented in painting and sculpture.

This book was designed to be distributed among the foreign consuls resident in Seattle at the time.

Very light rubbing; else fine condition. Very handsome. Signed by Meany on 22 February, 1932, the bicentennial of Washington’s birth.
