Description
Lieutenant Edward Duffy wrote this small and valuable history of the 159th New York regiment from the Hudson Valley.
The 159th New York served in Louisiana at Irish Bend, and at the Siege of Port Hudson, and then later in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1864 under Sheridan.
Only 150 copies of this small pamphlet were published, and it is now very hard to find. A prize for those who collect Empire State regimentals. M
ost extant copies we’ve seen bear burn marks, as does this one. We do not know of any legend of these pamphlets being lost in a fire, but since they are usually found with burn marks, it is possible only a few of the 150 exist.
Some pages uncut; some pages lightly torn; about 2” of spine lost at bottom; apparent burn stains around the edges with damp stain.
