Abraham Lincoln, Note Signed, With Two Rare Cartes, Framed

Two of the toughest Lincoln cartes to find, with a classic discharge note.

It is quite uncommon to find the profile images of Lincoln, as most were ¾ views; it is rare to find both profile images together – in this case, with a Lincoln pardon of either a soldier or a civilian. 

The back of the frame has two openings for viewing the photographer’s gallery imprints. 

Each object is in excellent condition; the Lincon writing is bold and easily readable, while the photographs each have fine tonality and clarity. 

Lincoln, Abraham. Clipped Autograph Endorsement, Signed, “Let this man be discharged /  A. Lincoln / Sept. 1, 1864”.  Framed with two flanking profile cartes-de-visite:  Alexander Gardner O-80 of November 8, 1863 and Mathew Brady O-89 of February 9, 1864 – the famous “Penny Pose.”  Handsomely framed to museum specifications.
