J. B. Polley’s Hood’s Texas Brigade holds the reputation of being one of the scarcest and most desirable of Civil War prizes. A comprehensive history of the legendary brigade written for the veterans.

J. B. “Joe” Polley was the most prominent of the veterans who founded and maintained Hood’s Texas Brigade Association and promoted the memory of the Brigade into the 20th Century. This book was published in conjunction with the dedication of the Hood’s Confederate Texas Brigade Monument on the Capitol grounds in Austin. A sketch of the then unfinished monument serves as the frontispiece. Bibliographer Robert Krick finds unique value in the nearly comprehensive biographical roster.

A Texas legend, and scarce in its 1st edition.

Usual toning; lightly stained boards; front hinge starting, nick at base of first signature, else very good condition with minimal shelf wear.
