Of the nineteenth century histories of African-American soldiers in the Civil War, this is most scarce and is certainly the best of the first three full-length studies on the subject.
Excellent; light edgewear; lightly rubbed; light foxing; else bright, colorful illustrative cover with only light mottling. Owner’s bookplate pasted in. The uncommonly brilliant and colorful cover illustrations are the best we’ve seen!
