Description
David Parker’s A Chautauqua Boy in ’61 and Afterward is a unique and valuable memoir of the Civil War. Parker spent most of his military career delivering mail for the Army of the Potomac. In this duty he had many opportunities to interact with generals and politicians who occupied stations far above Parker’s lowly second lieutenant commission.
Though he was a member of the Excelsior Brigade, Parker was mostly on detached duty in the army. His book is valuable for commentary on rear echelon activities and personalities.
Light wear; else very good; bright.
