George N. Barnard’s Fortifications on Heights of Centreville, Va., was made in March of 1862 near the Bull Run battlefield. Photographer James Gibson assisted Barnard. Both Barnard and Gibson later became famous for photographing Sherman’s Western campaigns.
Mounted on modern board, The original photo is clear and detailed.
Original photo lightly marred by a number of small silver spots, 2 of them as large as ½”; sliced off at lower right corner approx. ½” Else v.g.
