Peter W. Roper, Jedediah Hotchkiss, 1st ed., Signed

Description

Peter Roper wrote Jedediah Hotchkiss: Rebel Mapmaker and Virginia Businessman to tell the story of a legendary Virginian.

This is the first complete biography of Stonewall Jackson’s staff officer and cartographer, the best topographical engineer in the Confederate Army. In telling the story of Hotchkiss, Roper shows how Confederate staffs actually functioned, giving new insight into the nature of Southern military leadership. Hotchkiss’ fascinating postwar career is also examined. Includes maps previously not published.
