A Legendary Cartoonist Signs with a Drawing
Description
In The Nixon Chronicles legendary editorial cartoonist Mike Peters roasts President Richard M. Nixon through the Watergate scandal and beyond.
In 1976 Peters was a young artist for the Dayton Daily News (he was recommended by his army friend and mentor Bill Mauldin) but was already seen as one of the most influential editorial cartoonists nationally syndicated.
“Where (Peters) shines brightest is in his ideas, which is where it’s at, of course. To take a dreary depressing subject such as R. M. Nixon and undertake to sell a book of sprightly cartoons about him takes a crazy artist, a brave one, or a damned good one.” – Bill Mauldin
Peters, a Pulitzer winner for editorial cartooning in 1981, is the creator of the comic strip Mother Goose and Grimm.
Light wear and staining; sticker covering original price; hinges stained and weakening; else very good condition.
Includes an original hand-drawn illustration by Peters on the inside cover, inscribed and signed.
Peters, Mike. The Nixon Chronicles. Forward by Bill Mauldin. Introduction by Tom Teepen. Dayton: Lorenz Press, 1976. 1st edition, 168p., illustrations, paperback.
