Description
The War in the United States by Ferdinand Lecomte is a scarce work by a lieutenant-colonel of the Swiss Confederation reporting the events surrounding the American Civil War to the Swiss Military Department.
Lecomte blames the “malignity” of political parties for the squabbling which led to war. He states that the Democrats of the south are properly “Oligarchic” and that secession is an “illegality.”
