Bigelow’s Memoir of the Life and Public Services of John Charles Fremont was first published in 1856, for Fremont’s first Presidential run as the candidate of the new Republican Party.  He would be their nominee. Much on Fremont’s five expeditions and his time in the Senate. Jessie Benton Fremont, his wife, furnished most of the background knowledge. It is considered the best biography of Fremont.
