New Light on The Atlanta Campaign
Description
David Powell’s The Atlanta Campaign is a proposed five-volume series who’s mission is to correct a long time oversite in Civil War scholarship. Despite its criticality and massive array of primary source material, the operations in North Georgia have lingered in the shadows of other campaigns and has yet to receive the treatment it deserves.
We offer the first two volumes here. Other volumes will follow as they are released.
The Atlanta Campaign Volume One: Dalton To Cassville May 1-19, 1864, the first installment, relies on primary source material and extensive experience with the terrain. It examines the battles of Dalton, Resaca, Rome Crossroads, Adairsville, and Cassville—the first phase of the long and momentous campaign. Learn more about Volume 1.
The Atlanta Campaign: Volume 2: From the Etowah River to Kennesaw Mountain, May 20 to June 27, 1864, the second installment, mines similar sources as the reader marches with the armies and their leaders deeper into Georgia. Learn more about Volume 2.
Like Powell’s tough-to-find complete trilogy for The Chickamauga Campaign, this multi-volume study breaks new ground and promises to be this generation’s definitive treatment of one of the most important and fascinating confrontations of the entire Civil War.
We recommend getting your first two volumes now. Powell’s books regularly go out-of-print quickly.
Volume 2 Releases early in October. We will ship your set then.
David Powell joined us on A House Divided to talk about Volume 1. Watch the program. Powell will also join us to talk about Volume 2 on October 9. Learn More about his visit.
