Produced at the behest of the Republican managers, who needed a “cleaned up” Lincoln image to present to the voting public.  Of this pose Lincoln commented that “It looks better and it expresses me better than any I have seen; if it pleases the people I am satisfied.” 

Beautiful tone, detailed, and clear, taken as Republican nominee for the presidency.  Though not difficult to find in the smaller format, it has always been quite scarce and desirable in this imperial size.

Excellent! Indeed, perhaps the nicest example we’ve handled; quite dramatic in that deep, contemporary, wooden frame.
