Description
This photograph signed by Jimmy Carter is taken from a book. Carter is holding a copy of the first issue of the Milwaukee Sentinel from April 7, 1976. The headline says “Carter Upset by Udall.” However Carter did win the primary by a scant 1%. Interestingly, the Milwaukee Journal reported the same erroneous results. Both editions corrected the error in the late afternoon edition of their papers.
Both in very good condition; newspaper toned as expected.
Carter, James Earle. Photograph excised from a book, Signed “J Carter” No place; No date. 4to.; 1p. Accompanied by the original newspaper Milwaukee Sentinel Wednesday Morning, April 7, 1976. “CARTER UPSET BY UDAL; FORD EASILY BEATS REAGAN.”
