Parson Brownlow’s Testimony on Unionism in East Tennessee

Description

William Brownlow’s Brownlow, The Patriot and the Martyr, Showing His Faith and His Works provides an example of an important war-dated Unionist propaganda pamphlet.

President Lincoln considered East Tennessee important to the Union cause because of the loyalty of the mountain people, and their suffering under Confederate rule. He consistently urged his generals, without much success, to direct their operations toward the liberation of the region.

This work contains Brownlow’s memoir as well as many of his speeches.

Re-spined in matching cloth; water stains; light chipping of extremities; light foxing; else very good.
