Description
A History of the United States Navy by Edgar Maclay is the most significant history of the Navy published in the 19th Century.
The scarce revision of the 1893 original has a fine chapter on the Civil War as well as an account of the sinking of the battleship Maine and updates up to the beginning of the Spanish-American War. The publishers also boast improved coverage of anti-slave trade patrols and the Japanese attack on the frigate Wyoming from the 1st edition.
Beautifully bound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards. Lightly sunned & stained spines; light shelf wear; otherwise in excellent condition. Very good-plus!
