Description

(Lincoln Electoral Ticket 1864)  UNUSUAL Two-Sided Electoral Ticket from California:  Approx. 3 x 7.5 in. 

Electoral Tickets from the West Coast are tough to find! This one is especially nice, as it is printed on both sides. 

In pale russet, the front features an eagle on shield device, with the text reading “Union Ticket. / For President, / Abraham Lincoln…For Vice President, / Andrew Johnson…”; The back shows a woodcut scene, rendered in black and pale blue, of the U.S.S. Kearsarge and Deerhound sinking the notorious Confederate raider Alabama. 

Among the electoral candidates listed is Sam Brannan of San Francisco (newspaper publisher, head Vigilante, Mormon elder) and D.C. McRuer of the same city, prominently listed for 1st District Congressman at the bottom.
