While on the 1960 presidential campaign trail, Kennedy lost his voice to laryngitis. To communicate, he used these memoranda note slips. These present ones were used by him on August 16, 1960, written in his office in the Capitol, as well as in the Senate Democratic Cloakroom; with one from his favorite university press at Boston College.
Kennedy used two types of paper. The “Memorandum” Pink Notes:
“WHAT PART OF MICHIGAN”
“IS THERE A BIG INDUSTRY THERE?”
“ANCHORAGE / PRESSURE THERE TO SUPPORT / WHOLE TICKET”
“I HAVE LOST MY VOICE”
“I DON’T HAVE A ____ / IT SHOULD GO TO MY OFFICE”
On Beige, JKF Stationery:
BARRY BRIGHAM / BOB CRILES
