Ulysses Grant signs a Membership Certificate for the Jo Davies (County) Soldiers Monument Association, as President of the association.
This is a handsome, clean document with wonderful iconography, being engravings of Lincoln (surrounded by eagle and flags), Liberty and Union, and soldiers as miners and blacksmiths (occupations of the area). A great display item with an excellent signature.
The certificate remains unaccomplished, as the monument was never built due to Grant moving away. Countersigned by J.C. Smith as Secretary.
