Description

Victor Rose’s Ross’ Texas Brigade is one of the scarcest published resources on Confederate Cavalry in the Western Theater.

L. Sullivan “Sul” Ross’ brigade of Texans served in Mississippi and other places associated with the cavalry campaigns of the Army of Tennessee. They fought as infantry at Corinth in 1862, and then when mounted participated in the capture and destruction of Grant’s supply base at Holly Springs.

The brigade served throughout the war and saw heavy action. Rose also recounts actions between Confederate Texans and Native Americans.

Although it has been reprinted a first edition of Ross Texas Brigade is a very scarce example of Confederate literature and Texiana.

Lightly rubbed; minor foxing; light chipping of extremities; else very good. Tight and bright.

Rose, Victor M. ROSS’ TEXAS BRIGADE. BEING A NARRATIVE OF EVENTS CONNECTED WITH ITS SERVICE IN THE LATE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES. Louisville: Courier-Journal, 1881. 1st edition, 185p., frontispiece, (Howes R-444).
