Description
Offering a carte de visite of Mary Lincoln. A standing pose, in full profile, She wore this dress for the first inaugural ball. She is also wearing the Tiffany seed pearl demi-parure Lincoln purchased for her as a gift. Mrs. Lincoln’s love of flowers is illustrated in her hair wreath, the bouquet de corsage, and on the dress fabric. There are four exposures from this sitting, all are believed to be from 1861. This is ML-10 on the Ostendorf list of Mary Lincoln photographs.
Excellent tonality; rounded corners. Excellent.
