With The Faces of Abraham Lincoln Harry Wood examines Lincoln’s Face through the lens of history-from an 11th Century fresco painting to Charley (sic) Brown and Dick Tracy. Interspersed among the art are quotes from Lincoln and details about the artworks.
Wood was born in Indiana in 1910. He began collecting Lincolnian in 1933. By the time this book was published (1970), his collection numbered 2105 items.
Wood studied painting (among other pursuits-he was also a composer, educator, musician, and poet) eventually becoming Professor of Art at Arizona State University. The book was produced for an exhibit of his Lincoln-related art staged at the university in 1970.
